Des Moines Area Community College Promotes Wellness Education Through AMES MyFile Personal Health Record

SOMERVILLE, MA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- February 6, 2007 -- AMES, a national provider of solutions for the Management of Health Information, is now offering MyFile -- a Web-based application that provides a Personal Health Record (PHR) in order to enable the proactive management of one's own healthcare. This innovative program has been chosen by the Des Moines Area Community College of Central Iowa for their Health and Public Service Programs, along with their Recreation and Wellness Center.

DMACC's Health and Public Service Programs will benefit students using MyFile not only for the knowledge gained through taking charge of their own health needs and awareness, but also by applying their new found insight to their job training.

The MyFile Personal Health Record application also ties into the mission of DMACC's Recreation and Wellness Center -- as it provides "quality recreational and educational programs to foster awareness about healthy lifestyles to serve the needs of students, staff, faculty, and alumni members."

"We plan to roll out the new MyFile PHR to our students and faculty in February, during our Heart Health Fair," stated Kim Linduska, Executive Vice President of Academic Affairs.

When asked why MyFile was chosen, Ms. Linduska replied, "for its ease of use and the personal support it provides for our institution. Furthermore, we appreciate the personal attention we receive from everyone at AMES."

Additionally, the AMES MyFile System helps reduce healthcare costs by providing individual patient health risk assessments, supporting disease management and wellness programs, and improving chronic care plans. All health records can be accessed through one's MyFile Personal Health Record, while privacy and security are maintained in compliance with HIPPA requirements.

Hospitals, pharmacies, health clubs, colleges, major corporations, and regional health information organizations can all benefit from this progressive transformation in healthcare -- from AMES, a trusted name in healthcare for over fifty years.
