Desert Star's Chief Geologist, Dr. Alan Wainwright Receives "Spud" Huestis Award

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwired - Jan. 30, 2014) - Desert Star Resources Ltd. (TSX VENTURE:DSR) ("Desert Star") would like to congratulate Dr. Alan Wainwright, Desert Star's Chief Geologist, for his achievements as a recipient of the 2014 "Spud" Huestis Award for excellence in prospecting and mineral exploration. Dr. Wainwright is one of the individuals recognized for his role in Kaminak Gold Corporation's exploration and development of the Coffee Gold Project.

The Association for Mineral Exploration British Columbia ("AME BC") has, over the years, established seven awards which are primarily named in honour of eminent persons who were recognized for their distinguished service, leadership, and contribution to the mineral exploration industry. Once a year the awards were held to celebrate and honour the important achievements and contributions made by individuals and teams to the mining industry in BC and globally. The first Award to be presented by AME BC was established in 1977 when the H.H. "Spud" Huestis Award was awarded for "excellence in prospecting and mineral exploration". It was most fitting that the Award consisted of a claim post mounted on a block of porphyry copper ore from the Bethlehem Copper mine (Highland Valley camp), which "Spud" explored and developed back in the 1950s.
