Despite Raging Storms and Local Disasters, Teneros DR-as-a-Service Keeps Critical Business Data Out of the Dark

Teneros DR-as-a-Service Protects Impacted Law Firm, Gets Email Up-and-Running in Hours With Zero Data Loss

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA--(Marketwire - March 5, 2010) - Teneros™, Inc., a market leader in messaging solutions, today announced that by deploying Teneros DR-as-a-Service enterprises of all sizes can keep their business-critical email up and running, despite disasters like the historic storms that raged through the East Coast last week, knocking out power for millions and leaving nearly 200,000 homes and businesses still in the dark. The new Teneros DR-as-a-Service protects companies faced with this type of natural disaster via a global disaster recovery solution for email that requires no upfront capital expenditure and is so simple that it can be implemented in less than an hour.

Teneros DR-as-a-Service was recently put to the test due to a tragic plane crash in Palo Alto, Calif. which cut power for 28,000 homes and businesses for more than 10 hours on February 17, 2010. Palo Alto-based law firm Carr & Ferrell LLP was among the companies impacted. As a Teneros DR-as-a-Service customer, the firm had its email back and functioning well within their acceptable window with zero data loss.

"Email is the most mission-critical element of the legal profession today," said Michael Yoon, IT manager, Carr & Ferrell LLP. "There would have been huge legal ramifications if we had suffered data loss, given the sensitive materials often attached to our emails. Our clients rely on our email communication to keep them up-to-date and move their legal issues forward. Using Teneros DR-as-a-Service we were able to reassure our clients that their information was safe -- and we got back to work hours before other companies in Palo Alto. While it is tragic that we had to put Teneros DR-as-a-Service to the test, we are extremely happy that we made this investment."

This hosted service leverages Teneros Instant-On™ failover recovery and replication technologies that underpin the company's existing high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) solutions for email and unified communications. Teneros DR-as-a-Service offers the expanded capability of addressing businesses' holistic IT infrastructure and DR planning requirements. Increasingly, businesses are deploying and managing an array of diverse applications and services in support of mission critical activities. DR-as-a-Service addresses this complexity and allows businesses to prioritize disaster recovery initiatives based on the value and importance of content delivered by the applications. The service provides application-aware DR across three components of enterprise DR planning -- network, communication and information.

In addition to eliminating the need for costly datacenter and hardware deployment, DR-as-a-Service mitigates the ongoing operational costs of managing a DR solution for a business' complete IT infrastructure. Previously, small and medium sized businesses have lacked the budget and technical expertise to justify the cost of a DR solution to be used for emergency restoration. DR-as-a-Service dramatically lowers the ongoing operational cost of ownership of a complete DR solution by eliminating the need for dedicated in-house clustering expertise. Teneros dedicated 24X7 monitoring ensures adequate bandwidth allocation and software management, including updates, patches and compliance enforcement. Using DR-as-a-Service, businesses can deploy IT resources in support of their core competency and rest assured that Teneros DR-as-a-Service will be available in the untimely occurrence of a site-level disruption.

"This past week has seen much tragedy, and our thoughts go out to all the families impacted both by these vicious storms and this heartbreaking plane crash," said Ben Petro, president and CEO of Teneros. "We are pleased that we have been able to play a part in getting businesses back up on their feet despite these obstacles. Teneros DR-as-a-Service is a must-have for any company that has critical information on its email and, by bringing DR to the Cloud, we are making DR something that all companies can afford to deploy -- and, as these recent events have shown us, simply can't afford not to have."
