DFO: Closed Areas for Shellfish Harvesting on the North Shore

QUEBEC CITY, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - July 2, 2008) - Fisheries and Oceans Canada, Quebec Region, wants to inform the North Shore population that the harvesting of shellfish is now forbidden due to toxicity , in accordance with the prohibition order mentioned below, and pursuant to subsection 3(1) of the Management of Contaminated Fisheries Regulations, in the following shellfish areas:

Prohibition Order No.: QTN-452

Batture a Theophile (Batture de Bon-Desir)

From Pointe a John to a point on the shore facing the Rochers Bare.

Pointe-aux-Anglais

From Pointe aux Anglais to approximately 1 km east of the last house in Pointe-aux-Anglais (limit sign installed by Fisheries and Oceans).

Baie des Homards

From the western point of Anse aux Francais to Pointe a Luc.
