Dia Bras' Bolivar Property Highlighted in Special Mexican Publication

MONTREAL, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - Aug. 16, 2007) - Dia Bras Exploration Inc. (TSX VENTURE:DIB) is pleased to announce that an invited paper with Prof. Larry Meinert as senior author will be published on the Company's Bolivar property, located in the State of Chihuahua, Mexico. Prof. Meinert is an expert in skarn systems with over 25 years of experience, has worked in most major skarn districts of the world, is senior author of the review of skarn deposits in the 100th Anniversary Volume of Economic Geology, and is co-editor of the Society for Geology Applied to Mineral Deposits' flagship journal, Mineralium Deposita. He has consulted on the Bolivar property since 2005. The paper was co-authored by Dia Bras employees and consultant, Roberto Banda Monsivais, Hector F. Gonzalez Ramirez and Jacques Marchand and is in press as "in press, Meinert, L, et al., The Bolivar Cu-Zn skarn deposit, Chihuahua, Mexico, Economic Geology of Mexico - 2nd edition, K. Clark, ed."

Prof. Meinert's comments highlight that the Bolivar property is a major copper skarn system. "Prof. Meinert's comments are highly encouraging; our aggressive exploration drilling program is directed at locating the center of hydrothermal activity that is the main source of mineralizing fluids as well as step-out drilling of known mineralization, such as at El Gallo. The centers of hydrothermal activity that generate copper skarn systems are copper porphyry intrusions, which are major copper deposits. Discovery of the copper porphyry that generated the Bolivar skarn mineralization would give the Company a major mineral asset, and the type of research that Prof. Meinert is directing at Bolivar provides essential data to guide our exploration program," said Dr. Thomas Robyn, Dia Bras' Executive Chairman.

The Bolivar Cu-Zn skarn deposit in the Piedras Verdes mining district of Chihuahua is one of many base and precious metal deposits in the north-northwest trending Sierra Madre Belt extending across the states of Chihuahua, Durango and Sonora in Northwestern Mexico. The geologic setting for the Bolivar District is a volcano-sedimentary assemblage of Cretaceous age that comprises flows and tuffs of andesite and basalt intercalated with greywacke, limestone and shale beds.

The Bolivar district is characterized by high grade Cu-Zn skarn mineralization in carbonate rocks near the contact with the Piedras Verde Granodiorite. It is similar to other Cu-Zn skarn deposits of the world and like most, is zoned relative to fluid flow channels, many of which are centered on igneous contacts, indicating that hydrothermal fluids flowed up along those contacts and subsequently out along faults, stratigraphic contacts, and zones of brecciation.

The most favorable target in the Bolivar district is the zone of continuous skarn alteration along the Piedras Verdes Granodiorite contact. This skarn alteration extends from the Bolivar mine approximately 3 km southeast to El Val. There are at least seven well mineralized zones on the surface in this skarn trend, including Bolivar, South Bolivar, El Gallo, Montoya, Pequena, Narizona, and El Val.

There are two main stratigraphic zones which host ore, an upper calcic carbonate horizon which predominantly hosts Zn-rich ore and a lower dolomitic horizon which predominantly hosts Cu-rich ore. In both cases the highest grade ores are developed along structures and associated breccia zones which cross the favorable horizons near skarn-marble contacts.

The overall mineralogy of the Bolivar system is typical of a major Cu skarn system and has few of the characteristics of a Zn skarn system. The high Zn grades in the Bolivar mine are due to the distal location of this alteration zone within the overall district zonation pattern.

Questions about this paper can be addressed to Dr. Thomas L. Robyn, Dia Bras' Executive Chairman.
