DiabetesSeriesLive to Host CME Event on Strategies to Improve Treatment and Management of Diabetic Retinopathy

Nationally Recognized Retina Specialist, Andrew Moshfeghi, MD, MBA, to Present Live Online

BOSTON, MA--(Marketwired - June 23, 2015) - Retina specialists, ophthalmologists, and primary care physicians will have an opportunity to learn new therapeutic advances in diabetic retinopathy live via online video at no cost at DiabetesSeriesLive. The event will be held on June 25 at 12:00 PM ET at www.DiabetesSeriesLive.com. This event is part of a larger, multi-faceted program on diabetic retinopathy that will also include a program on July 22 for primary care physicians, and an event on July 29 intended to educate patients. The activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the requirements and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint providership of Albert Einstein College of Medicine of Yeshiva University and Montefiore Medical Center and PlatformQ Health, Inc.

The program will feature Andrew Moshfeghi, MD, MBA, of the University of Southern California and Dean Eliott, MD, of Massachusetts Eye and Ear Retina Service. Topics in the hour-long program will include: The role of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) in ocular neovascularization, the proven benefits of anti-VEGF therapy for diabetic retinopathy, and intravitreal injection techniques and management of its complications. This activity is supported by an educational grant from Genentech.

"The rise of diabetes nationally will lead to an increase in the number of cases of diabetic retinopathy and diabetic macular edema. Both are preventable and treatable, with best results when diagnosed at an early stage. It's important that ophthalmologists and other clinicians are properly informed to recognize and appropriately manage this condition to optimize patient outcomes," said Dr. Moshfeghi.

DiabetesSeriesLive offers an effective way to easily stay current on advances in diabetic patient care without leaving their office. There is no cost to register and watch any educational session at DiabetesSeriesLive. Clinicians who attend live may take advantage of interactive capabilities like submitting questions to be addressed live online by presenting faculty and interactive polling.
