Diamond Drill Mobilized to Saganaga Gold Project

THUNDER BAY, ONTARIO -- (MARKET WIRE) -- October 25, 2006 -- Benton Resources Corp. ("Benton") (TSX-V: BTC) is pleased to announce that it has been notified by its partner Teck Cominco Limited ("Teck Cominco") that a diamond drill has been mobilized to the Saganaga gold project. The first phase will consist of approximately 2000 to 2500 metres designed to test a large geophysical anomaly identified by Benton during its programs completed last spring. The geophysics consisted of a ground magnetic and an induced polarization survey that identified a coincidental 1.2-kilometre long IP chargeability and magnetic low anomaly. These anomalies are believed to reflect gold-bearing sulphide enrichment and hydrothermal alteration associated with a zone of dilation along the edge of a mafic intrusion.

The Saganaga gold project, located 120 kilometres west of Thunder Bay, Ontario, is host to multiple gold showings. Many of these occurrences have returned highly favourable historical gold results, including diamond drill hole 88-12 which intersected 31 grams per tonne over 5.9 metres in the Powell Zone. Trenching on the Starr Zone in the area of the new geophysical anomaly returned assays of 17.2 grams per tonne gold over 7 metres from channel sampling. Historical shallow diamond drilling from this area also returned intervals of 5.27 grams per tonne over 10.1 metres and by 5.58 grams per tonne over 6.4 metres in hole 97-12.

Teck Cominco has the exclusive right to earn up to a 70% interest in the Saganaga gold project by spending $8,000,000 by July 15, 2012, and making certain investments in Benton over the duration of the agreement.
