Diane Hourany of Zephyr Real Estate Helps Keep Ballet Alive in San Francisco

SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwire - Apr 21, 2011) - Diane Hourany, long-time realtor with Zephyr Real Estate, goes the extra mile to support San Francisco Ballet. In fact, her varied volunteer activities with the highly-acclaimed ballet company demonstrate that she goes several extra miles. A former dance instructor with a passion for ballet, she is a member of Bravo, a volunteer arm for the San Francisco Ballet Company.

Hourany, who has been in the real estate business for nearly 10 years, was determined to stay connected with her love of ballet. As a child, she fell in love with the dance and subsequently taught ballet for several years. After a stint in the corporate arena, Hourany embraced real estate partly because of its flexibility so that she could enlist with Bravo. She works tirelessly through Nutcracker and repertory season, assisting in the shop during performances, tagging thousands of Nutcracker ornaments (their biggest money maker), ushering, coat checking and setting up tables for various events.

Bravo is a volunteer organization with more than 200 enthusiastic members who promote the Ballet with various activities, and has become a national model for dance companies. Bravo is operated solely by volunteers, and all proceeds go to SF Ballet. The volunteers assist at fundraisers and special events, staff the Ballet School's office and library, provide clerical support and assist with public relations and outreach. Thousands of hours are contributed annually. The ballet is funded, in part, based on the number of hours contributed by volunteers. Grants are based on number of volunteer hours; consequently, more volunteer hours equal more funding, a vital component to the life and sustainability of the ballet company.

The 30th Annual San Francisco Ballet Auxiliary Fashion Show will be on Tuesday, May 10, 2011, at the Fairmont in San Francisco. Reception begins at 5:30 p.m. and will be followed by a live auction, raffle and then the Fashion Show at 7 p.m. This year's internationally famous fashion designer is Giambattista Valli from Rome, Italy. Guests who purchase dinner tickets will also attend a dinner with the renowned designer immediately following the show.

The Student Showcase raises funds to support the scholarship and financial aid programs of the school. This year's event will be on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, June 1, 2 and 3, at the Novellus Theater, Yerba Buena Center for the Arts.

Please visit http://www.sfballet.org/support/specialevents.asp to purchase tickets for either event or to volunteer for this very worthwhile organization.

San Francisco Ballet, the oldest professional ballet company in America, has emerged as a world-class arts organization since it was founded as the San Francisco Opera Ballet in 1933. Initially, its primary purpose was to train dancers to appear in lavish, full-length opera productions.

Hourany is a member of the San Francisco, California and National Associations of REALTORS® as well as an e-PRO Internet Professional with Zephyr, and writes a business blog at www.SanFranciscoLovelyHomes.com.
