Diane R. Martini Joins Burns & McDonnell Power Team in Chicago


CHICAGO, IL--(Marketwired - Sep 15, 2015) - Diane R. Martini has joined the Burns & McDonnell team in Chicago and will be participating in a new group that will focus on developing water effluent limitation strategies nationwide for owners of coal-fired power facilities. With more than 30 years' experience focused on water and wastewater treatment plant design and operations, Martini has specialized in helping clients comply with National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permitting requirements. She is a recognized industry expert who brings a unique perspective to permitting and environmental investigation in the power sector.

Martini's experience in NPDES compliance and plant operations provides crucial perspective when helping clients prepare process solutions and permit applications related to wastewater discharges and water quality impacts. She has many years' experience in chemical, design, procurement and engineering analysis functions for water and wastewater treatment systems. She currently is tracking the upcoming Steam Electric Power Effluent Guidelines and 316(b) regulations as well as treatment technologies for arsenic, mercury, selenium and nitrates/nitrites.

Martini is a biologist and chemist with experience that includes nearly all aspects of water and wastewater treatment, beginning with bacterial studies of storm water during graduate school, followed by work as a pretreatment coordinator, writing permits and establishing local limits for industrial user discharges. Prior to joining Burns & McDonnell, she worked at Sargent & Lundy, serving as a water treatment specialist, providing comprehensive support to the power industry for water and wastewater needs. She has also worked as an environmental consultant and remedial project manager in California and Illinois, where she gained experience as project manager, startup manager, and chief operator for groundwater and storm water treatment plants at National Priority List (NPL) Superfund Sites in Indiana and Illinois.
