Dice Selects Message Systems to Improve Email Deliverability

Message Systems Provides Dice With Complete Email Operation Visibility, Increasing Revenue Opportunities and Reducing Operational Costs

COLUMBIA, MD -- (MARKET WIRE) -- January 9, 2007 -- Email software solutions provider Message Systems announced today that it has added a major new client. Dice, the leading provider of specialized career sites and career fairs for technology and engineering, accounting and finance, capital markets and security-cleared professionals, recently signed a deal with Message Systems to increase email deliverability and improve email tracking and monitoring.

Like many companies, one of Dice's primary means of communication to customers and prospects is through high volumes of email. Dice sends more than a million emails at a time to qualified candidates by proactively sending job alerts, often across multiple email channels. Its previous solution encompassed 15 servers, making the monitoring, management and operational recovery of Dice's email systems complex, expensive, and in many cases, impractical. In addition, the former email solution did not possess an effective deliverability tracking or bounce processing mechanism, nor could it efficiently handle the high email volumes that Dice required.

Prior to using Message Systems, as much as 10 percent of Dice's email did not reach its intended audience, which ultimately affected Dice's bottom line through increased marketing costs. Since instituting Message Systems' solution, job alert bounce rates have dropped to between one and two percent, and Dice is now consistently delivering more than 95 percent of its messages.

"Since migrating to Message Systems' email software solution, we can better monitor all of our email campaigns and react immediately and more effectively to any deliverability issues that arise," said Ed O'Neill, director of technical services for Dice. "We now have full visibility into our email operations, which means if a message bounces back, for example, we know right away why it didn't get to the recipient and can make immediate adjustments."

"What we are able to do for Dice is not unlike what we have done for all our customers -- we improve deliverability for companies that view email as critical to their success," said Barry Abel, vice president of field operations for Message Systems. "It's simple: If your email gets to where it needs to go, business is done, deals close, and good marketing is accomplished, then your company becomes even more successful. We take immense pride in the fact that we help give our customers an advantage in the extremely competitive world of email marketing."

"It was absolutely essential to Dice's ongoing success to migrate to an email platform that can evolve and grow with us," O'Neill continued. "I am happy to say that we have moved into a place of constant email process improvement."

Since Dice began transmitting email via Message Systems' Message Transfer Agent, it has realized a marked increase in email deliverability speed. "It used to take six hours to send a half-million daily JobAlerts to our subscribers," said O'Neill. "Now it takes less than an hour. In fact, because each message is unique, we can't generate them fast enough to outrun our Message Systems server."

Message Systems estimates the potential cost savings based on a three-year cycle to be in excess of $1 million. Further, the solution is completely software-based, works seamlessly within Dice's existing open systems Linux environment, and paid for itself in the first 90 days of operation.

"By using Message Systems to tune and optimize our processes, fix deliverability problems and handle reputation management, we've seen an overall increase in deliverability of between five and 10 percent," said O'Neill. "Based on this and the other tangible benefits of more effective issue resolution, lower operating costs through server consolidation, and more reliable communication with our customers and prospects, we look forward to expanding the Message Systems solution across all Dice Holdings, Inc. businesses. We anticipate seeing the same types of improvements in those channels as we've seen with the core Dice communications."
