Steve Angello, Claude VonStroke & The Martinez Brothers to Participate; Diddy Pushes the Envelope to Lead All-Star Line-Up Incorporating Live Instrumentation
NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire - March 26, 2008) - Fresh from celebrated stints in Ibiza and
Portugal, Sean "Diddy" Combs brings his legendary mash-up music series to
Miami's Winter Music Conference '08. In an ongoing personal crusade to
push the envelope of creativity among DJs, producers, and musicians, Diddy
hand-picked his list of accomplished and promising underground players to
collaborate for one night of groundbreaking music and sound. The goal? To
further the global dialogue in the dance, electro, and house music scenes.
Diddy selected Miami's South Beach, a city with a long history
of dedication to world music and culture, as the first U.S. location for
his ongoing mash-up series. This one-night-only event will take place at
Cameo in Miami Beach this Friday, March 28th.
Diddy will lead this creatively competitive mash-up by incorporating live
vocals and instrumentation, as each DJ and producer showcases how far
outside the realm of popular dance, electronica, and house music they're
willing to go. Diddy and the participants will battle as they attempt
to usher in a new energy and sound. Having selected a mixture of
established names and unknowns, Diddy reinforces his commitment to the
future of music and culture. For Diddy, it's not about who is the most
well-known, rather it's about "what's next." Through Diddy's years as an
artist, producer, songwriter, label head, and visionary, he has worked to
bring innovation and freshness to the music industry. In fact, Diddy's
critically acclaimed platinum album, "Press Play," reflects his unique
global music perspective. There are no boundaries in music.
Diddy's previous mash-ups in Ibiza and Portugal were met with critical
praise by those entrenched in dance music culture. Every year, dance music
lovers and die-hards flock to his mash-ups from around the globe for the
opportunity to experience this genre-smashing mixture of sounds. At each
event, Diddy tests and battles the participants. In Ibiza, he presided
over mash-up battles against Felix Da Housecat and DJ Morillo, whom he also
battled in Portugal. Previously, Diddy has collaborated with Stuart Price,
Deep Dish, and DJ Hell.
