Digimarc to Demo Mobile Shopper Engagement Using Digimarc® Discover at Shopper Marketing Expo 2014

Brands and Retailers Connect With Shoppers at Home, on the Go and in the Store

BEAVERTON, OR and MINNEAPOLIS, MN--(Marketwired - Oct 15, 2014) - Shopper Marketing Expo, Booth #605 -- Digimarc Corporation (NASDAQ: DMRC) today announced a demo of Digimarc® Discover and Digimarc® Barcode at the Shopper Marketing Conference and Expo being held October 21-23, 2014 at the Minneapolis Convention Center in Minneapolis, MN. Digimarc offers brands and retailers new opportunities to engage shoppers on their mobile devices -- at home, on the go and in the store -- while dramatically speeding up in-store checkout.

Digimarc is the first company to enable the assignment of "digital identities" to multiple forms of media and everyday objects -- including print, audio, video and packaging -- to facilitate deeper mobile consumer engagement from each marketing touch point along their path to purchase.

In booth #605, attendees will discover how they can use Digimarc solutions to enhance the shopping experience through mobile engagement as well as faster speed of checkout. Demos will include:

Mobile Consumer Engagement - Learn how Digimarc solutions can be utilized in product packaging, signage, radio, TV, printed advertisements and more to connect with shoppers at every touch point in the shopper's journey. By offering compelling content and experiences, such as contests, recipes, coupons, "buy now" and more, brands and retailers will learn expansive new ways to drive brand loyalty and purchases.

Faster Checkout - See how Digimarc's unique approach makes an entire product package scannable, not just the traditional UPC symbol. Since the Digimarc Barcode contains each item's unique GTIN data, Digimarc-enabled POS systems can quickly identify the product regardless of how the cashier orients the items in relation to the reader. This significantly increases a retailer's check out speed to provide shoppers better experiences while helping their bottom line.

A quantitative model recently made available by Digimarc determined that the 120 highest-volume supermarkets, big-box supercenters, warehouse centers, discounters and drug stores could realize labor cost savings of over $500 million annually simply by improving checkout scanning rates by a single item per minute. Since Digimarc-enabled packaging is estimated to speed up checkout rates by up to 33 percent, equivalent to seven additional items per minute, the savings from it could be much greater -- as much as $3 billion annually.

Shopper Marketing Conference and Expo attendees that stop by the booth will be invited to enter Digimarc's Package Scanning Game, a contest the company developed to demonstrate just how fast anyone can scan items using Digimarc Barcode. Earlier this year, Digimarc team members set the Guinness World Record for scanning and bagging 50 items in 48.15 seconds. Think you can beat this time? Stop by booth #605 and find out. The contestant with the top speed of the day will win an iPad Air. The next two fastest times will be awarded a GoPro® Camera.
