Digital Fortress Expands Management Team, Wins Big Cloud Customers

Hybrid IT Services Provider Earns This Year's Largest Seattle Data Center Deals, Reflecting Rapid Growth

SEATTLE, WA--(Marketwired - May 19, 2015) - Digital Fortress, the largest independently owned data center operator in the Pacific Northwest, has appointed Steve Voit to executive vice president of sales and marketing and Robi Johnston to vice president of operations, as international demand for its services continues to climb. The firm, which operates in 63,000 square feet of data center space across two facilities in the Seattle area, has seen a 200% increase in year to date orders from 2014 to 2015. Digital Fortress now provides hybrid IT services to hundreds of companies worldwide.

Meanwhile, a leading cloud infrastructure company and a leading content delivery company have recently selected Digital Fortress to manage part of their IT infrastructure. Digital Fortress was chosen for its connectivity to the largest Internet exchange in the region, flexibility to support specific deployment needs, and dedicated around-the-clock support. These two customers represent almost 1MW of capacity utilization for Digital Fortress, and were the largest data center deals in play for Seattle over the past 12 months.

Digital Fortress was founded in 2012 with the consolidation of two data center companies in South Seattle and the addition of a multi-million dollar upgrade of an 18,000 square foot data center facility downtown. With a new and experienced cloud services team and the addition of managed hybrid IT infrastructure services, Digital Fortress can support a customer's mix of cloud and colocation IT infrastructure. It is the only local data center provider offering public managed cloud services alongside managed colocation. The company offers many high speed connectivity options for colocation customers and derives energy almost entirely from clean sources. Its size also allows for contract flexibility and fast implementations compared to larger service providers.

Steve Voit is a seasoned technology executive with extensive growth experience. Prior to joining Digital Fortress, Steve was an executive at T-Mobile. As director of business and partner development, he helped generate over $100 million in new business over a 14-month period. Voit has worked in the technology markets for over 20 years including senior sales and marketing roles at Impinj, Itronx and Netmotion Wireless. At Digital Fortress, Voit will be responsible for expanding the company's customer base and product lines.

Robi Johnston joins Digital Fortress from 2nd Watch where she was instrumental in developing and operating the top AWS partner's managed cloud business. Digital Fortress has tasked Johnston with developing its hybrid IT infrastructure managed services offerings. She brings over 15 years' experience in telco and enterprise cloud operations and engineering. Her previous employers include EMC, New Bay, Nextel and T-Mobile.

"The manner in which companies operate their IT organizations is changing in a significant way," says Matt Gerber, CEO at Digital Fortress. "Agility and flexibility are the new paradigm, and hybrid cloud infrastructure, which blends cloud with colocation, is the new normal. Our growing team of managed services experts can help customers with the day to day management of hybrid infrastructure in a cost effective way, so our customers can focus on what is strategically important -- developing and deploying applications that move their businesses forward."
