Digital Marketing Roundtable Highlights That Social Networks Are at a Crossroads Which Could Threaten Growth

LONDON--(Marketwire - February 27, 2009) - The latest edition of the Knexus Digital Marketing Conversations podcast was released this week, focusing on the emerging issues in digital marketing and the wider online community. This week's panel consists of Katy Howell, the MD of online PR agency immediate future, Eliza Dashwood from search agency Ambergreen and Justin Rees of online lead generation specialists Lead Point, hosted as ever by Graeme Foux, CEO of Knexus Digital. The discussion highlighted the sensitive nature of the monetization of social media and the continuing emergence of cloud computing.

"This week's podcast covers a number of hot topics in digital marketing at the moment," says Graeme Foux, host of the podcast. "Getting three distinct viewpoints from distinguished professionals on things like Facebook privacy, brands being charged to use Twitter and the effects the recession will have on the industry is incredibly beneficial to our listeners. They can gain a better understanding from the combined learning and expertise given by a number of different angles."

Building from these conversation starters, the three experts all take their chance to put forward their views on how the continually changing digital industry will adapt and survive in a tougher economic climate. In addition, a particular emphasis was put on the issue of how social media will be of use to brands as they scrutinize their communications budgets. There is also more light-hearted talk about mobile phones, including a slightly surprising top four uses of the mobile. The podcast concludes with each member of the panel predicting what they think the key trend will be in digital marketing for 2009.

Katy Howell, immediate future MD, said, "It is always useful to debate contentious issues with people who look at events from a different viewpoint. The discussion about ROI for brands in social media is one of the most important issues for the industry to consider at the moment; we all need to adapt to changing parameters and shifting expectations and one of the best ways to do this is through discussion with your peers."

The latest edition of the Knexus Digital Marketing Conversations podcast is available from and all good download platforms.
