Digital Payment Technologies to Support Contactless Payments With Release of LUKE II Parking Pay Station

Increased Convenience, Enhanced Security Among Consumer Benefits When Using Contactless Credit Cards and NFC-Enabled Phones to Pay for Parking

VANCOUVER, BC--(Marketwire - May 16, 2011) - Today, Digital Payment Technologies ( (DPT) announced the support for contactless payments on the new LUKE II parking pay station platform. Consumers will be able to use near-field communications (NFC) enabled phones and contactless credit cards such as Visa PayWave, MasterCard PayPass and American Express ExpressPay to quickly, securely and conveniently complete parking transactions on DPT's LUKE II pay stations.

Contactless credit card payment systems use an embedded chip and antenna to enable consumers to pay for parking by simply waving their card over a reader on the pay station. With contactless payments on the new LUKE II pay stations, consumers will enjoy more convenient transactions that are nearly twice as fast as conventional cash, credit or debit card purchases, allowing them to quickly pay for parking and get to their destination. In addition, while LUKE II has the same secure PCI compliant credit card processing as all DPT pay stations, consumers will have the added assurance of knowing their credit cards will never leave their hands.

"DPT is at the forefront of the parking technology industry when it comes to providing multiple payment options to suit the consumer," said Alan Menezes, vice president of product management and marketing for DPT. "From electronic coupons and smart cards to campus cards and Pay-by-Phone, DPT has remained committed to helping consumers park smarter and with greater convenience. We are seeing contactless payments become more prevalent in many other areas of transportation and commerce, and so offering it on our parking pay stations is a natural next step."

DPT's LUKE II pay stations are equipped to adopt NFC payment capabilities such as those found in the latest smartphones, as well as other emerging contactless payment methods.
