Digital Reasoning Adds Industry Veteran Dr. Ric Upton to Leadership Team

Upton Will Propel the Company's Momentum in the Federal Market


ARLINGTON, VA and NASHVILLE, TN--(Marketwire - Aug 25, 2011) - Digital Reasoning, the leader in unstructured data analytics at scale, today announced the appointment of Dr. Ric Upton as Senior Vice President of Strategic Development. In this new role Dr. Upton will focus on the continued growth and development of Digital Reasoning's presence in the Federal market.

Dr. Upton brings over 25 years' industry experience to Digital Reasoning. Most recently he has been an Executive-in-Residence working with General Catalyst Partners LLC. Prior to joining General Catalyst, Dr. Upton was an Executive Vice President for healthcare informatics and intelligence with BBN Technologies (acquired by Raytheon in 2009). He was also a Senior Vice-President for business development and intelligence with ALPHATECH, Inc. Prior to ALPHATECH, Dr. Upton held senior executive positions in both commercial and government-oriented firms, including Chief Technology Officer and Vice-President, Operations for SignCast, Inc. and Vice-President, Strategic Development, at PictureTel Corporation. Dr. Upton also held positions of increasing responsibility at TASC, including Vice-President, Strategic Development, Vice-President and Technical Director/CTO. He began his career with the Central Intelligence Agency.

Dr. Upton holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Maryland, and an M.S.E and B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania. He has been on the Board of Advisors for the Computer Science Department, University of Maryland, is a member of the Steering Group for the Security Innovation Network (SINET), and is an Advisor to several firms focusing on security, privacy, and digital forensics.
