DigitalTown Adds Free Email to Its Spirit Sites With PartnerPage With Google

BURNSVILLE, MN--(Marketwire - March 3, 2008) - DigitalTown, Inc., (OTCBB: DGTW) today announced that it has incorporated free email, powered by Google Apps and its Gmail system, into its beta spirit sites. Now students, alumni, boosters, teachers and other visitors to the spirit sites can sign up for a user name incorporating the name of their school and its mascot, for example, sue@burnsvilleblaze.com or tom@lakevillecougars.com.

The email market penetration potential of these user names is very high with over 30 million first name usernames available and into the hundred of millions of usernames available with a combination of first name with the first letter of a user's last name across DigitalTown's network of 27,000 sites. Compared to Hotmail and Yahoo! email where users have to resort to numbers to differentiate, these usernames become personalized with both the username and email address.

Now for the first time in the U.S. on a nationwide scale, high school athletic departments, teams, clubs, classroom departments and more will have access to email addresses that match their names, for example, athletics@burnsvilleblaze.com, football@burnsvilleblaze.com, chessclub@lakevillecougars.com.

Google, like Microsoft, has opened up its email technology to win over more users because an email address is the gateway to Internet usage. That means companies can incorporate the email technology of these two giants into their proprietary systems and keep their brands prominent. With Gmail available as a sub brand, DigitalTown's spirit sites and its email systems can keep their own unique, local identities with the support and power of Google Apps and Gmail.

DigitalTown selected Google and Gmail to power its email offering because Google has the capacity to host the millions and millions of email addresses that could be generated by users from the 27,000 spirit sites that eventually will be launched after beta-site testing ends. With Google as host, DigitalTown eliminates enormous costs associated with hosting an email system itself with the added benefit of the trusted Google brand.
