Dime Savings Bank of Williamsburgh Provides Grant to Brooklyn Legal Services Corporation A

Earmarked for Low Income Taxpayer Clinic and Community and Economic Development Programs

BROOKLYN, NY--(Marketwired - October 27, 2015) - Dime Community Bancshares, Inc. (NASDAQ: DCOM) (the "Company"), the parent company of The Dime Savings Banks of Williamsburgh ("Dime"), is pleased to announce Dime's continued support of Brooklyn Legal Services Corporation A ("Brooklyn A") by providing a $25,000 grant to support its highly successful Low Income Taxpayer Clinic ("LITC") and Community and Economic Development ("CED") programs.

The LITC provides individual representation and advice to low-income families during audits, appeals, and in Tax Court. The LITC engages in outreach and educational workshops to community groups who are low-income and/or speak English as a second language to inform them of their rights and responsibilities as taxpayers and ensure they are aware of the Earned Income Tax Credit and other credits and benefits to which they are entitled. For many working families, these are lifesaving cash infusions, used to pay for housing, food, clothes, and educational expenses.

The CED represents groups that build affordable housing, expand access to health and dental care, establish community-run senior centers, schools and daycare facilities, and undertake other activities that help alleviate the negative repercussions of poverty. CED attorneys work both as in-house and special project counsel, offering not-for-profit clients ongoing, long-term support.

Paul J. Acinapura, Co-Executive Director and General Counsel of Brooklyn A stated, "We are grateful for the Dime's long-time support for our work. This most recent and very generous special underwriting will benefit an even larger number of Brooklyn A's clients as it will enable both our LITC and CED programs to expand their services. We are proud to have Dime as a supporter and investor in Brooklyn A and our work."

"Dime has been a longtime supporter of Brooklyn A's work and we are delighted to contribute to the successful outreach programs they provide to the low income families of our community," said Dan Harris, Executive Vice President and Chief Lending Officer.
