Raptors' All-Star Bosh Gives Up Home Court Advantage for the Direct Energy Driveway Challenge

Direct Energy contest has all-star Raptors forward playing basketball in lucky fan's driveway

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Feb. 25, 2009) - Toronto Raptors' All-Star Chris Bosh is looking for a new opponent to challenge on-court and he's even willing to give up home-court advantage for the showdown.

The Toronto Raptors and Direct Energy are once again teaming up to provide one lucky fan and 9 friends the opportunity to shoot hoops with an NBA star through the Direct Energy Driveway Challenge. The winner receives the once-in-a-lifetime chance to shoot hoops and learn some valuable basketball skills from Bosh in their own driveway. The Raptors will set up a basketball court at the winner's home, and provide jerseys, an autograph session, and a barbeque for family and friends.

"Last year's Driveway Challenge sounded like a lot of fun," said Bosh. "I'm really looking forward to participating this year and to meet some of our great Raptors fans."

This is the second Driveway Challenge with the Raptors in Toronto sponsored by Direct Energy. Last year's contest brought hundreds of fans and media to the Mississauga home of the lucky winner to watch a pick up game with Raptors guard/forward Anthony Parker and former Raptors player Jamario Moon.

Fans can register to win at between February 22 and March 30, 2009. Six semi-finalists will receive a pair of tickets to the Raptors' April 7 game at Air Canada Centre against the Atlanta Hawks where they will complete on-court during halftime for the grand prize.

"Direct Energy is looking forward to bringing this unique experience to another lucky Raptors fan," said Tanis Kozak, Vice President and General Manager, Direct Energy. "The contest reflects our commitment to being a different kind of energy company and one that is active in the community. We're thrilled to work with Chris, who demonstrates that same commitment to his fans and the community."

No purchase is necessary. The Direct Energy Driveway Challenge is open to Ontario residents 18 years of age and older who live within a 75-mile radius of Air Canada Centre. Only one entry per person will be accepted. Visit for official contest rules.

Direct Energy is an official sponsor of the Toronto Raptors and official energy supplier to Air Canada Centre.
