Dispute resolved at B-N Group, Isle of Wight

LONDON, ENGLAND--(CCNMatthews - Oct. 13, 2006) -

Amicus Regional Officer, Terry Edwards, said:

"An increase of 3.6% without any conditions is a major success for workers at the plant who achieved this through one day of industrial action.

"Through direct and collective action the workers have forced the company to make a much improved offer."

Following a one day strike at the plant, which produce and maintain small aircraft, by 85 Amicus members last Friday (6th October) the company asked for further discussions. Meetings took place on Monday 9th and today (Friday 13th) where an agreement was reached for a pay increase with no compulsory strings attached.

This has been put to the membership who have accepted the offer of an increase of 3.6% backdated to 1st April 2006 and a further 2.5% increase on 1st April 2007. Management were trying to change employees hours of work and make weekend working compulsory without any increase in pay.
