Division of Chicago ENT, Chicago Sleep Center, Receives Program Accreditation

CHICAGO, IL--(Marketwired - Oct 22, 2014) - The American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM) has awarded Chicago Sleep Center, a division of Chicago ENT, their program accreditation for the outstanding standards it maintains as a sleep disorders center. The center provides important resources to the local community as a diagnostic facility as well as through providing state-of-the-art treatments. Valid for a period of five years, the accreditation was awarded per AASM Standards, including core standards such as facility, equipment, staff, policies and procedures, patient care, quality assurance, and data acquisition. The center's goals and plans on improving the community's medical care must also be clearly stated.

Nationwide, only around 2,500 sleep centers maintain accreditation with the AASM, which was founded as a professional medical society for providers, associated clinicians, and researchers in the field of sleep medicine. The society provides voluntary accreditation after assessing a sleep center's ability to demonstrate a commitment to high-quality diagnostic services and management of sleep disorder patients. A growing number of states in the U.S. now require AASM accreditation for reimbursement of various sleep medicine services. Accreditation serves as an important indicator for patients that the facility provides the highest quality of care and professionalism. For 30 years, the AASM has been setting the clinical standards in the sleep medicine field, and is considered a leading authority when it comes to sleep center recognition.
