DND/Arrival of Canada's First CC-177 in Trenton: August 12

TRENTON, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Aug. 11, 2007) - Media are invited to attend the Air Force arrival ceremony to mark the arrival of the CC-177 at its home base at 8 Wing / CFB Trenton at 12:30 p.m. EDT on Sunday, August 12, 2007. The Arrival Ceremony will include speeches from Lieutenant-General Angus Watt, Chief of the Air Staff and Colonel Michael Hood, 8 Wing Commander.

After the ceremony, Lt.-Gen. Watt and Col. Hood will conduct a 20-minute media availability, along with aircrew and members of 429 (Transport) Squadron - the CC-177 squadron.

Media interested in covering the ceremony are requested to confirm their attendance with Major Isabelle Robitaille, 8 Wing Public Affairs Officer at (613) 392-2811 ext. 4565 (office) or by e-mail at An event outline follows below.

Media are asked to arrive at 2 Air Movement Squadron Passenger Terminal at 10:30 a.m. with satellite trucks or 11:30 a.m. without. Media interested in seeing the cargo space of a CC-130 Hercules aircraft prior to the ceremony, to use as comparison to the CC-177's cargo space, should also arrive at 10:30 a.m. A media briefing will take place at noon in the arrival ceremony area, followed by media set-up on the airfield. Photo identification will be required to gain base access.
