DND/Write to the Troops, No Packages Please

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - Dec. 18, 2006) - With the heightened coverage of Canadian Forces (CF) activities overseas, many Canadians have indicated a desire to do something for the men and women deployed on missions. This outpouring of support and generosity is very much appreciated; however, the CF re-supply system cannot handle care packages addressed to "Any CF member" for a variety of reasons, including security and volume.

The mission re-supply system is designed to move operational and operational support equipment. Donated goods do not qualify as such, and can only be moved when space is available. Such space is extremely limited and its use requires extensive coordination in order to keep it under control.

E-mail messages on the "Write to the troops" message board is one of the preferred methods to show support. The message board is available at the following link:

In addition, postcards and letters addressed to "Any CF member" will be accepted. A list of mailing addresses for CF operations is available at: Schools or organizations can bundle these in large envelopes (or small parcels if necessary). Note that these cannot contain any other enclosures. If enclosures other than letters or postcards are detected, the item will be returned to sender.

These restrictions do not apply to friends and family members.

Please visit the Canadian Forces Personnel Support Agency's "Support our troops" website at for more information on how to show support to our troops.
