Doc Walker Performance to Help Raise Funds for Local Community and Ducks Unlimited Canada

REGINA, SASKATCHEWAN--(Marketwired - April 22, 2015) - Fans and supporters alike will "Put it in Drive" and "Park the Car" all in preparation to "Leave it all on the Dance Floor", as Doc Walker takes the stage in Southey, Saskatchewan Friday, April 24th for the 2015 Ducks Unlimited Canada (DUC) and 620 CKRM Community Concert series, which helps raise funds for local communities and DUC.

A call-out for submissions to host the annual event went out at the beginning of the year from radio partner 620 CKRM. After a careful selection process, the Southey Skating Rink was chosen as the 2015 host.

"620 CKRM's roots are in small town Saskatchewan," says Grant Biebrick Program Director for 620 CKRM. "It makes sense to partner on this event. We love Saskatchewan and its people are our loyal listeners. We are excited for Friday and we will be broadcasting live from Southey all day long."

One of the committee chairs for the event, Jamie Konecsni, was ecstatic when she received the call from 620 CKRM that the Southey Skating Rink had been selected as this year's host.

"It was unbelievable! We had hoped that we would be chosen. Our rink is so important in our community. It brings people together and is a place where memories are created. This opportunity is exactly what we needed as this money is going to go towards a new ice plant one day because we know that the old one doesn't have much life left in it," says Konecsni.

DUC has been looking at new and innovative ways to give back to the people in Saskatchewan. The grassroots communities across Saskatchewan have always welcomed DUC with open arms and this is a way to give back.

"We are ecstatic about the response to the Doc Waller concert and are so happy to be working with such a great group like the Southey Skating Rink Board, 620 CKRM and RAWK Entertainment. All organizations have hit a homerun and we can't wait to see Doc Walker on Friday," says Keith Mackintosh, National Manager of Special Projects for Ducks Unlimited Canada.

620 CKRM, "The Source", Conexus Credit Union and the Seedmaster SED foundation proudly support this initiative and believe that it is a strong way to give back to Saskatchewan.

Ducks Unlimited Canada (DUC) is the leader in wetland conservation. A registered charity, DUC partners with government, industry, non-profit organizations and landowners to conserve wetlands that are critical to waterfowl, wildlife and the environment. www.ducks.ca
