Does Canada Have Any Future Telecom Leaders? Contest Launched to Generate Ideas, Build Tomorrow's Telecom

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - June 17, 2008) - Canada's Telecommunications Hall of Fame an independent, not-for-profit organization preserving, promoting and celebrating the Canadian telecom sector, officially announces today its Future Telecom Leaders Contest. With the goal of finding young, post-secondary Canadian residents who may be tomorrow's future telecom leaders, the Hall of Fame asks for creative written and/or audio-visual submissions to the question "How Canada can become a recognized global leader in telecom in the next 10 years?".

Ten winners will be selected from across Canada. All will receive an all-expenses paid trip to attend the 2008 Telecom Laureate Awards induction ceremonies and gala dinner on October 29th, 2008. The top 2 winners will receive $1,500 scholarships. Winners will be sponsored by a company within the Canadian telecom industry, have the opportunity to meet senior telecom executives and learn more about the management of Canadian telecom. Additionally, winners will have their submissions presented to senior officials of both the federal government and the industry. Canada's Telecommunications Hall of Fame will support and promote the student's names and entries through its website and media releases.

"The Future Telecom Leaders Contest is an important initiative of the Hall of Fame's Educational Program," says Lorne Abugov, Founder and Director of Canada's Telecommunications Hall of Fame. "One part of our mission is to inspire young Canadians to take up employment in the Canadian telecom industry and contribute to its leadership on the international stage."
