Domain Bank Announces .jobs TLD

BETHLEHEM, PA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- June 22, 2005 -- Domain Bank has announced that the new .jobs sponsored Top Level Domain (sTLD) is now available for registration requests. The .jobs Start-Up Trade Name Period has now begun.

The new sTLD .jobs is designed to promote employers' recruitment activities on the web. The Start-Up Trade Name Period is a chance for companies to request their trade names and commonly known names in the .jobs sTLD before the first come, first serve registration period. The Start-Up Trade Name Period began on June 19, 2005, and is open through August 19, 2005.

The benefits of the .jobs sTLD are considerable for both the job seeker and the employers. A recruitment entity, while recruiting for their own firm or as a job-finder service, will have an Internet option that will be specifically tailored to the end users. The company may register companyname.jobs to use specifically for their hiring efforts. The site can include background information about the firm, all the firm's employment openings in their various locations and employee benefit information.

".Jobs provides the employer an easy, inexpensive, unified ability to use their company name, their strongest brand, to promote an exact online destination for their employment opportunities," said Tom Embrescia, Chairman and CEO of Employ Media LLC.

For the job seeker, the sTLD .jobs will make exploring career options much simpler. Instead of foraging through entire websites of specific firms searching for a 'careers' section, a job seeker would now be able to go to a recruitment entity's .jobs website and easily find the employment information.

"Recruitment efforts, especially in certain high-turnover industries, can become very competitive," said Steve Heflin, Domain Bank's President. "Domain Bank is pleased to offer .jobs domain names as an online recruitment solution for all of our corporate customers."

During the .jobs Start-Up Trade Name Period, customers are able to request domain names using their company name, commonly known name or a product name along with the company name or commonly known name. For example, a company called Suzy's Flower Store could register: suzysflowerstore.jobs, suzysflowers.jobs or suzysflowerroses.jobs. The company name or commonly known name must be in the requested domain name. The registrant (owner) of the domain name must be the legal company name.

Some additional guidelines state that the length of the domain name must exceed 3 characters and only the English alphabet, numbers and hyphens (-) are accepted characters for .jobs registrations. Generic names are not permitted, as they are reserved. For example, nursing.jobs is a reserved domain name.

After August 19th, there will be a 30-day adjournment from any new .jobs registrations to allow time for domain disputes from the Start Up Trade Name Period before first come, first serve registrations begin. .jobs domain names awarded during the Start Up Trade Name Period will not work (resolve) until approximately August 31, 2005. First come, first serve registrations will be available on September 19, 2005.
