DomainName.com Auction Tomorrow

One-Day Event Concludes at 3pm EDT

MINNEAPOLIS, MN--(Marketwire - August 30, 2010) -  The highly anticipated auction of DomainName.com is scheduled to take place from 9am to 3pm EDT on Tuesday, August 31, according to DomainConsultant.com, the firm handling the auction.

"We've auctioned thousands of names but never had so much interest in a single property," says Mike Fiol, one of the firm's founders.

Fiol believes some of the appeal is because acquisition of DomainName.com allows instant entry into the highly-profitable domain registration market. "Our industry has had ups and downs but one segment had made money through it all: the registrars," he adds.

GoDaddy, NetworkSolutions, Enom and Register.com are examples of high-profile registrars who gained a foothold in the multi-billion dollar, global address apparatus -- a behemoth selling annual subscriptions and renewals for anywhere from $6.95 to $49.95.

Bidding for the address, property and registrar accreditation opens at 9am Eastern Daylight Time (EDT) and will close around 3pm.

"DomainName.com is what we call a 'category killer' -- the best name in any given market. And this is a gigantic and profitable market," concludes Fiol.

"Just ask the GoDaddy girls."
