Dome9 Sponsors $10,000 Bug Bounty to Enhance Cloud Server Security

Dome9 Engages Crowd Sourced Bug Bounty Community Bugcrowd With $10,000 Reward Pool to Extensively Test Dome9 Cloud Security Products

SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwired - May 29, 2013) - Dome9 Security, the leading provider of cloud server security management, is committed to the security of its platform and its customers. As a part of this commitment, Dome9 decided to join the likes of Google, Facebook and PayPal in running a "Bug Bounty" program, and engaged crowd sourced security provider Bugcrowd Inc. to provide and manage a fixed-duration bug bounty to test all aspects of Dome9's innovative cloud security platform. $10,000 is currently on offer to Bugcrowd's community of 2,000 security researchers under the Dome9 bounty.

The Bugcrowd researchers have been tasked with testing every last inch of Dome9's product platform, including Dome9 Central -- its central secure management system, Dome9 SecOps for AWS which orchestrates Security Management across Amazon EC2 and Amazon VPC, and Dome9 Agents for both Windows and Linux, the agent modules that are tasked with enforcing security and firewall policies on customers' hosts.

"We're very excited to work with Dome9," said Bugcrowd founder and CEO Casey Ellis. "Our approach yields up to 5x as many findings per dollar as traditional security testing -- for companies like Dome9, ensuring such a level of coverage is especially critical."

"As an innovator in the cloud security space, we recognize and appreciate the trust of our 750+ customers every day, and are committed to taking every measure possible to improve our product and its quality," said Zohar Alon, Dome9 co-founder and CEO. "Leveraging the power of Bugcrowd's community of dedicated security testers and researchers have proven to be one of our best investments in product and service quality, and we plan to engage them in the future, as our platform continues to grow."

In addition to the cash rewards, Dome9 has generously offered a complementary Dome9 Business Cloud Starter plan to all Bugcrowd security community members who participate in the bounty.

The Dome9 bug bounty runs until the 5th of June 2013. Security researchers can apply to participate in this and other Bugcrowd bug bounties by signing up at https://portal.bugcrowd.com.

ABOUT BUGCROWD Bugcrowd is crowd sourced security for web and mobile applications. We run managed bug bounties as a service.

All web and mobile apps have security flaws. Finding them before the bad guys do is hard. The bad guys hold the advantage... They outnumber the good guys and they aren't charging for their time. Crowd sourced "bug bounties" levels the playing field... but in-house bug bounty programs are difficult to set up and hard to run. Enter Bugcrowd.

Our curated crowd of 2,000 security researchers compete for cash and kudos to be the first to report security flaws in our clients' applications. Facebook, Google and PayPal have used this approach successfully for years, now Bugcrowd makes it available to companies of all sizes.
