CHICAGO, IL--(Marketwired - June 28, 2016) - When long-time Domino's Pizza employee Warren Boatright glanced at a picture of himself in a suit, it was the wake-up call he needed.
"I was at my heaviest, and I had tried several other diets and weight-loss programs and nothing worked," Boatright said. "I felt like I looked like a penguin in that suit, and knew I had to do something about it."
Fortunately, his employer recently had introduced Retrofit, a weight-management and disease-prevention program funded by Domino's.
"This program came into my life at the right time," Boatright said. "I registered and set a goal to lose 10 percent of my body weight."
Boatright was assigned an expert coach and an activity tracker and Wi-Fi scale for self-monitoring. He also was given access to a smart app and dashboard for tracking and notifications, expert-led interactive classes and social support from an online community to encourage healthy behaviors.
Through the program, Boatright changed his lifestyle by mainly adjusting his portion sizes and exercising regularly, and he immediately began seeing results. Within 12 weeks, he was down 35 pounds from his starting weight of 273 pounds. And he did all of this without having to give up pizza.
"I work for Domino's pizza, and I love pizza," Boatright said. "I've learned that I can still eat pizza. I just have to be aware of portions and have fewer slices."
Today, he is down 55 pounds or more than 20 percent of his bodyweight, far exceeding his initial goal.
"I feel better about myself, I have so much more energy, and I am happier, which makes everyone around me happier," Boatright said.
Boatright is not alone. Domino's employees involved with Retrofit lost 965 pounds collectively. Ninety percent of employees in the latest cohort lost weight with 57 percent losing at least 5 percent of their body weight. In addition, 70 percent lost at least one BMI point and 11 percent moved out of the morbidly obese category.
Retrofit offers weight-management and disease-prevention solutions that help tackle obesity and related conditions to deliver proven outcomes and lasting results. Eighty-eight percent of Retrofit participants lose weight and 68 percent keep it off 18 months later. Retrofit clients also are two times happier than those on other weight-loss programs, according to a recent customer satisfaction survey. Retrofit contributes its success to five key factors: 1) a scientifically based program design; 2) highly credentialed experts who drive a personalized experience and true engagement; 3) a data-driven, high-tech/ high-touch approach; 4) the adaptability of the program to integrate or run discreetly within broader wellness ecosystems, and 5) "happiness delivered" with proven outcomes that transform lives.
