MEMPHIS, TN--(Marketwired - Sep 15, 2016) - The National Speakers Association, the leading organization for professional speakers, honored Memphian Don Hutson, Chief Executive Officer of U.S. Learning, with the Nido Qubein Philanthropist of the Year Award at their 2016 Convention on Sunday, July 24th in Phoenix, Arizona.
The Nido Qubein Philanthropist of the Year Award is presented annually by the National Speakers Association Foundation to honor individuals who have made a significant contribution in our world by being examples of philanthropy and stewardship. The purpose of the award is to acknowledge those individuals inside and outside of the National Speakers Association who demonstrate the power of giving for the sake of giving with no expectation of getting anything in return. Nido Qubein, CSP, CPAE, is the founder and chairman emeritus of the National Speakers Association Foundation and is dedicated to further this, and other programs, designed to help and educate people.
"I am honored and genuinely appreciative to be named the Nido Qubein Philanthropist of the Year by the National Speakers Association," said Don Hutson, Chief Executive Officer of U.S. Learning. "The true test of an ideal life is not only to live large, but to give large. It has always been my belief that you get more back every time that you give. When you expend energy to give to others, some cells in your body will die, but the passion and the warmth that you feel for having done that good will nourish your soul and touch your heart forever."
Hutson's philanthropic and community outreach endeavors benefit multiple organizations, many with ties to Memphis where he resides. Hutson is a member of the Danny Thomas St. Jude Society, chairman of the Charlie "Tremendous" Jones philanthropic entity and Tremendous Life Books, and a past chairman of the International Children's Heart Foundation. Hutson also supports Junior Achievement, St. Jude Children's Hospital, The Memphis Symphony Orchestra, Boys & Girls Clubs, the University of Memphis Society of the Shield, the University of Memphis Board of Visitors, and the Memphis Food Bank.
Hutson is the recipient of numerous other awards including the following National Speakers Association awards: The Cavett Award, the National Speakers Association's most prestigious award, presented annually to the professional speaker whose career has earned outstanding credit, respect, honor and admiration in the National Speakers Association and the speaking profession; and the 2014 Master of Influence Award, presented to speakers who have significantly influenced generations of speakers and whose distinguished careers have brought honor and recognition to the speaking profession.
A founding board member and past president of the National Speakers Association, he is a charter member of its most prestigious group -- the Speakers Hall of Fame -- and holds every professional designation of the National Speakers Association. Hutson is also a member of the prestigious Speakers Roundtable.
