DONOVAN Creative Communications (DONOVAN), an Edmonton-based marketing communications agency, is proud to welcome CFL player, Graeme Bell, to its growing public relations division as a Community Relations Coordinator.

Graeme is most notably recognized for his efforts on the football field, but when the Edmonton Eskimos' fullback isn't blocking the opponent, he is actively involved within the community. A six-year veteran of the CFL, Graeme was recently recognized by the Edmonton Eskimos with the coveted David Boone Memorial Award, which is given to a player that demonstrates outstanding community involvement and team leadership.

"Graeme's leadership in — and knowledge about — community activities makes him a welcome addition to our growing public relations division," said Michael Donovan, President and Chief Creative Officer of DONOVAN. "We pride ourselves on being an innovator in our industry, and we continue to strive to find the best people in all areas. Graeme's proven experience and commitment to community is great to have on our team."

Since coming to Edmonton two years ago, Graeme has worked with several children's charities, including the Boys and Girls Club of Edmonton, Big Brothers and Big Sisters, and Kids Up Front. He was also the driving force behind bringing the successful Six-A-Side youth football program to Edmonton and area.

"Football, community engagement and marketing are three things I'm most passionate about, so to be able to unite two of them is an opportunity of a lifetime for me. I am truly thankful to be able to work with an award-winning agency like DONOVAN," said Graeme Bell, Community Relations Coordinator for DONOVAN. "DONOVAN's initiative and commitment to enhancing community initiatives speaks volumes about the kind of organization they are. I'm very excited to work with this exceptional team."

Despite his athletic feats — including recovering from a serious brain injury in 2007 to play CFL football again — Graeme considers his greater work is mentoring youth and working to help improve the lives of the less fortunate children in our city.

Graeme won the David Boone Award in 2010, an annual recognition of an Edmonton Eskimo who has distinguished himself in community participation. This year, he is also nominated for a Tom Pate award, another acknowledgment of his off-the-field commitments to the community.
