DoSomething.org and Meez Partner to Activate Young People Through Online Community

eMission Launches Today, Challenging Young People to Reduce Their Carbon Footprints Through Games

SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwire - November 16, 2010) -   Meez, an immersive social community with the highest engagement online, and DoSomething.org, the largest organization in the US for young people and social change, have partnered together to empower young people online to take offline action through an ongoing series of Do Something campaigns and programs integrated into Meez Nation.

DoSomething.org empowers teens to convert their energy and ideas into positive action in their communities. Through this partnership, Meez will integrate Do Something campaigns into its social virtual community, where Meez users can interact, learn about, and participate in these programs directly through Meez.com in a truly social way. Today, DoSomething.org's eMission campaign kicks off on Meez. Partnering with EPA's Energy Star program, eMission encourages teens to reduce their carbon footprint through playing online games.

Recent campaign integrations have included DoSomething.org's Make Art Save Art campaign and DoSomething101. In collaboration with HP and AMD, Make Art Save Art mobilized teens in the fight to keep art education in schools, with more than 2.7K inspirational designs created, which were shared over 300K times. DoSomething.org's annual back-to-school program, DoSomething 101, enabled teens nationwide to collect school supplies at their local Staples stores and donate them to underserved children. In a six-week period, nearly 300K Meez users visited the custom DoSomething 101 branded rooms, garnering 1.1M minutes of exposure for the Staples-sponsored campaign. 46K users visited the DoSomething.org website to learn more.

"Meez strives to make the world a better place for teens and young adults, and DoSomething is a perfect partner for driving this agenda," said John Cahill, CEO of Meez. "Our users are very passionate about causes, and this is a great opportunity to tap into that passion and encourage a generation of young people to do good in their communities as well as their own lives."

"We love working with Meez and their community of engaged and passionate young people," said COO Aria Finger of DoSomething.org, "Through this continued partnership, we can't wait to reach more teens than ever before and expand our network of doers throughout the Meez community."

More DoSomething.org campaigns are scheduled to go live on Meez, including "Tackle Hunger" launching next month.
