Dot to Dot Consulting Group Plays a Leadership Role in Shared Learning Among Canadian Hospitals and Capital Development

MARKHAM, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Jan. 24, 2012) - On January 11, 2012, Dot to Dot Consulting Group, one of Canada's leading providers of Transition Planning for Capital Development projects in healthcare, hosted a videoconference titled "Transition Tips: Lessons Learned" at Fort St. John Hospital in British Columbia.

Panelists from three Ontario-based hospitals shared their transition planning experiences and addressed staff questions and concerns. Ranging from hands-on clinical to administrative leadership during the transition of their own hospital, these panelists facilitated a shared learning process.

"Shared learning is integral to project success. By learning from another project's oversights, you can identify potential issues and mitigate risks," advises Joe Pilon, Sr. VP and COO at Health Sciences North, "We contribute to best practices not only by what we do, but by what we share with our colleagues, in an effort of continuous improvement."

Dot to Dot's approach to shared learning in Transition Planning and Capital Development crosses a number of boundaries including geographic, knowledge areas and departs from the de-facto model used by other consultants providing knowledge transfer sessions. Panelists selected to participate are not clientele-based and therefore could provide a genuine and critical assessment of what is needed for improved transition planning and implementation. Ontario hospitals were featured to provide a perspective outside of the BC health system.

Patricia Santiago-Sorrell, Principal of Dot to Dot says, "To know the road ahead, ask those coming back. We want our clients to gain an unfiltered appreciation of some of the needed elements for sustained success from hospitals who have recently moved into a new hospital."

The new Fort St. John Hospital and Residential Care facility will be completed by ISL Health on May 31, 2012. Northern Health intends to move into the hospital and residential care facility to start delivery of healthcare services in the summer of 2012.
