Dow Chemical Sheds More Assets, Sells Texas Plant to Arkema, an Industrial Info News Alert

SUGAR LAND, TX--(Marketwire - August 5, 2009) - Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)-- The Dow Chemical Company (NYSE:DOW) (Midland, Michigan) has announced plans to sell the acrylic acid and esters plant located in Clear Lake, Texas to Arkema (Paris, France) for an estimated $50 million. This sale is expected to be the first of several similar divestures to be completed in the coming months as part of plans to shed several non-core businesses as a result of acquiring Rohm & Haas (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) assets earlier this year under mandate by the Federal Trade Commission.
