Downloadable Audio Books Arrive at Southern Tier Library System in Celebration of National Library Week

Best-Selling Titles Available Anytime, Anywhere

PAINTED POST, NY--(Marketwire - April 15, 2008) - Listen up Southern Tier residents! Download an audio book to celebrate National Library Week April 13-19 and join the circle of knowledge at your Southern Tier library.

Southern Tier Library System (STLS) has extended their services with free downloadable audio books. Library cardholders can check out and download audio books anytime, anywhere by visiting http://stls.lib.overdrive.com.

To check out a downloadable audio book, users will need a valid library card with bar code, personal computer, and Internet connection. Patrons will need to install the free OverDrive Media Console software and then begin browsing the collection. Once downloaded, the audio book files can be transferred to dozens of supported MP3 players, and some audio books can be burned to CD.

"We are thrilled to celebrate National Library Week by offering our patrons immediate access to a diverse digital collection of non-fiction, fiction, children's and young adult titles. This service is great for the commuter population and for those who exercise," said Ristiina Wigg, STLS Executive Director. "With such great titles available, driving long distances will be more bearable. We have downloadables by award-winning authors including James Patterson, John Grisham, George Crile, Meg Cabot, and Dean Koontz."

Customers can check out up to five titles at a time. At the end of the 14-day loan period, the audio books automatically expire and are returned to the collection. The digital titles have no late fees or damage costs.

The technology and content is provided by OverDrive, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio. To access the digital collection, visit http://stls.lib.overdrive.com.
