Downloadable Audio Books Now Available Through Participating Bibliomation Libraries

MIDDLEBURY, CT -- (MARKET WIRE) -- February 12, 2007 -- Bibliomation is pleased to add a new service for participating Connecticut libraries -- downloadable audio books. Patrons can log onto the Bibliomation OverDrive website at http://bibliomation.lib.overdrive.com or link from their local library website and begin browsing for audio book titles. Audio books can be downloaded from the Internet at any time for listening on the computer or uploading to a compatible MP3 player. With an automatic 14 day checkout, patrons will never incur late fees, or have to worry about leaving behind the last CD or cassette in the car!

Patrons will need a valid library card to download titles. This service is available to residents of the following libraries: Ansonia, Bethel, Bentley Memorial in Bolton, Derby, Derby Neck, Hall Memorial in Ellington, Killingly, Monroe, Oxford, Plumb Memorial in Shelton and Huntington, Rowayton, Somers, Suffield, Tolland, and Willimantic Public Library.

Users must download and install the OverDrive Media Console software once, and then are free to select and download titles to a Windows-based PC. Digital books can be transferred to a portable MP3 player and some books can even be burned to CD.

The collection offers titles from all genres including classics, foreign language study, mystery, and suspense. Certain titles are always available for an unlimited number of patrons to check out at the same time, while others are first come, first served. If a title is already checked out, a patron may place a hold on it and be notified by email when the title is available.

The technology is provided by OverDrive, Inc., a leading provider of digital media. The service is provided through Bibliomation, a Connecticut library automation consortium.
