Downsview Park Launches Collaboration With Toronto Police Service

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - Feb. 27, 2007) -

WHAT: Downsview Park is partnering with Toronto Police Service/ For
KICKS, a highly successful youth outreach program begun by two
police officers in 31 Division (including Jane-Finch) and now being
extended to at-risk communities throughout the GTA.

For KICKS was developed in 2002 to engage at-risk youth in soccer,
tug-of-war and other physically challenging activities to help
channel their energies toward success in school, careers and life.
Downsview Park offers participants in the program the use of its
many facilities for soccer, volleyball, basketball, skating and
go-karting, as well as a host of year-round events and activities
in which to participate. Details of the collaboration will be
released at the event.

450 students from Westview Secondary School all enrolled as
participants in For KICKS playing in a soccer tournament in
the Hangar at Downsview Park.
