Downsview Park Welcomes Edgefest 2008 to Its Roster of Events

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Feb. 26, 2008) - Parc Downsview Park Inc. (PDP) is pleased to host Edgefest on Saturday, July 12, 2008. This full day festival features incredible musical talent in one park in the heart of the Greater Toronto Area - headlined by multi-platinum Grammy-winning artist Linkin Park and features Stone Temple Pilots (with their first reunion show on Canadian soil), Sam Roberts Band, The Bravery, Ashes Divide, and Attack in Black. All together 15 artists are scheduled to rock the park all day on two stages at Downsview Park.

"We're thrilled to host Edgefest at Downsview Park and welcome the opportunity to engage as many fans as possible at Canada's national urban park in the GTA," said Tony Genco, President and CEO of PDP. "Edgefest is a welcomed addition to Downsview Park's roster of year-round events and programs and helps us fulfill our mandate of creating a sustainable community along the principles of environmental quality, social equity and economic prosperity."

Downsview Park's portfolio of seasonal, cultural and special events includes performances by the Rolling Stones and High School Musical's Corbin Bleu. Its central location in the GTA makes Downsview Park a destination of choice for recreational, leisure, educational, entertainment and business interests.

"We're pleased to bring an event of this size into the heart of the city. Downsview Park is increasingly used as a gathering place," said Alan Cross, Program Director of 102.1 the Edge/Toronto. "We're also excited to be able to stage a festival-style show that is easily accessible by public transit. Everyone can leave the car at home. Our goal is to make Edgefest an annual event at Downsview Park."

Edgefest is followed by Downsview Park's annual Canada Day celebration and supersedes Drift Mania and Downsview Park's FamilyFest in August. For more information on Downsview Park's programs and events, visit, email or call 416-952-2222.
