Downtown Calgary Hotel Hosts 'A Night in Paris' to Raise Funds for Children's Hospital

CALGARY, AB--(Marketwired - Dec 2, 2013) - Stepping up so others could step out for a night of glamour, fun and fund-raising, the Calgary Marriott Downtown joined in hosting the 2^nd Annual Building Hope for Kids Gala held recently at the Telus Convention Centre, just next door to the distinctive downtown hotel.

"A Night in Paris" drew more than 700 guests to the event venue in Calgary, all focused on raising funds for the Alberta Children's Hospital Foundation. The Calgary Marriott Downtown was joined by Baywest Homes and Qualico Communities in hosting the themed event which raised $321,000 for the foundation, topping last year's inaugural gathering by more than $90,000.

Monies raised through the gala will be used to fund excellence in family-centred child health programs, specialized life-saving equipment and advanced pediatric research at the hospital which provides medical services to more than 82,000 children each year. Multi-disciplinary teams work together at the facility to promote healing through family-centred care for patients from birth to 18 years of age from across Alberta, southeastern British Columbia and southwestern Saskatchewan.

The Parisian-themed gala featured live music by Calgary's legendary Barry Shaw, an array of fine food and drink, live and silent auctions, photo booths and surprise entertainment.

Marriott Downtown General Manager Joseph Clohessy along with colleague Mark Farrer were among the many prominent guests attending this year's event.
