DPS Biometics Expands Presence in Massachusetts to Accommodate Growth

Ireland-Based Engineering Firm Hosts Open-House for State and Local Officials at New Framingham Facility

FRAMINGHAM, MA--(Marketwire - May 16, 2011) - Last week, DPS Biometics hosted an open-house for State and local officials, as well as employees and members of the Irish Government at its new Framingham facility. The event marked the latest development for the Ireland-based provider of architectural, engineering and validation services to the pharmaceutical and biotechnology sectors. Earlier this year, the company planted roots in the region by acquiring Biometics, a local engineering consulting firm with a biotech specialty. The new Framingham facility will accommodate the company's fast-growing workforce which is expected to triple over the next two years.

Calling the new facility a major investment and a cornerstone of the company's growth strategy, DPS Engineering CEO Frank Keogh said, "Massachusetts is well known for its innovation culture and its world-class graduates. With these attributes and our talented local employees, we can continue to deliver high-value services to existing and new customers."

On hand at the event was Massachusetts State representative, Chris Walsh, who cited the new facility as a "strategically important investment for DPS, founded on the wealth of biopharmaceutical talent in the New England area."

Dr. Susan Windham-Bannister, President and CEO of the Massachusetts Life Sciences Center, spoke of the importance of companies like DPS Biometics in supporting the aims of the 10-year $1 billion state initiative to grow the Massachusetts Life Sciences Super-Cluster. "DPS will find the MetroWest region to be a great place to do business, as this is a region where the life sciences are thriving. This growth is facilitated by a cluster of exceptional service providers, like DPS, that can facilitate company expansions throughout our state."

Michael Lonergan the Irish Consul General to Boston credited the DPS Biometics team for creating a strong combined entity that promises job growth and provides even greater value to customers. "DPS Biometics is the latest Ireland-based company with ambitious expansion plans in New England. Today, more than 82,000 Americans are employed by Irish companies -- almost as many Irish people that are employed by US companies in Ireland. We're delighted to see the company expand. It's good for Massachusetts and good for Ireland."
