Virginia Beach-area patients have come to know his practice as a welcoming and efficient home for a range of cosmetic services, including noninvasive CoolSculpting®, minimally invasive BOTOX® injections, and such surgical options as facelifts, liposuction, and breast augmentation. Dr. JoAnne Lopes of Virginia Beach's Cosmetic Surgery Center is bringing her particular skills, experience, and focus to the practice, offering a woman's perspective of aesthetics coupled with an accomplished and board-certified plastic surgeon's rigorous education and training, as well as years spent building and growing her own practice.
Like Dr. Hugo, Dr. Lopes emphasizes the human side of plastic surgery, working to ensure patients are informed and feel heard and understood throughout the entire process, from setting up the consultation to follow-up care. While she is well versed in surgical techniques for the body, breasts, and face, she also has a particular interest in skin care and health.
Together, the doctors are writing a new chapter at Ben Hugo Plastic Surgery for all of Virginia Beach and beyond. Longtime patients of Dr. Hugo's will continue to interact with familiar and knowledgeable staff they feel comfortable with and trust, and will also benefit from the fresh perspective, techniques, and talent Dr. Lopes provides. Dr. Lopes graduated from Eastern Virginia Medical School, then performed her internship and residency in general surgery at University of Connecticut. Her fellowship at Medical College of Virginia focused on plastic surgery, while a subsequent fellowship at Eastern Virginia Medical School focused on cosmetic. She is licensed in the states of Maryland and Virginia, is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, and is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons, an active member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, and more.
She opened her own practice at the Cosmetic Surgery Center in Virginia Beach in 2001.
Dr. Hugo attended medical school in Cape Town, South Africa; had his general surgery training in South Africa, England, and Scotland; and had his plastic surgery training in South Africa, London, and Pennsylvania. He has certifications and memberships with about a dozen boards, colleges, societies, and associations across three continents.
