Dr. Jeffrey Brenner, 2013 MacArthur Fellow, Delivers Keynote at the 11th Annual NaviNet Customer Forum

NaviNet CEO Frank Ingari Announces Launch of NaviNet Open, the Modern SaaS-Based Enterprise Software Product Line to Serve Payer Customers and Provider Users

BOSTON, MA--(Marketwired - Oct 9, 2013) - NaviNet, America's largest healthcare network community, is hosting its 11th Annual Customer Forum this week at The Boston Harbor Hotel. The 2013 NaviNet Customer Forum: Revolutionizing the Healthcare Network brings together leading health plans, users, and thought leaders from around the country.

Steven S. Martin, President and Chief Executive Officer, and Steven H. Grandfield, Executive Vice President and Chief Operations Officer, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Nebraska, delivered the opening keynote address about the role of the network in the management and use of data by the payer who will thrive through reform.

Dr. Jeffrey Brenner, Executive Director of the Camden Coalition of Healthcare Providers and winner of the John D and Catherine T MacArthur Foundation "genius grant," will give the keynote address on October 10, 2013. Dr. Brenner founded the Camden Coalition eleven years ago with the mission of creating community outreach teams to serve a poor population with complex healthcare and often social problems. Since then, his group has been working with ten communities around the U.S. to adapt the model through a cross-site learning initiative. "With 85 million baby boomers headed to the most expensive system in the world, we're in a race against time to learn the 'laws of physics' for how to deliver better care at lower cost," stated Dr. Brenner.

In conjunction with the 2013 NaviNet Customer Forum, the company will hold the Third Annual NaviNet Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Advisory Board meeting on October 10, 2013. Comprising clinical leaders and healthcare executives and led by S. Michael Ross, M.D., MHA, Chief Medical Officer, NaviNet, the NaviNet CMO Advisory Board members will debate which types of payer content can best support care management in the practice office, leverage health information exchange (HIE) information for transition management and medication reconciliation, and envision new kinds of referral authorizations and care coordination applications to enhance communication efficiencies between primary care providers, specialists, integrated delivery systems and health plans.

NaviNet Chief Executive Officer Frank Ingari will host a session entitled "Health Plan CIO Panel: What Our Internal Customers Are Telling Us They Need." Joining Ingari will be Douglas Blackwell, Senior Vice President, Chief Information Officer, Horizon Healthcare Services, Inc., New Jersey's oldest and largest health insurer; Mark Caron, CHCIO, FACHE, Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer, Capital BlueCross; Karthik Ganesh, Executive Vice President, COO and CIO, QualCare Inc.; and Matthew Ray, Executive Vice President and Chief Information Officer, Highmark Health Services.

Chilmark Research chief executive officer John Moore will talk about "Moving Beyond HIE-The Need for a New Paradigm" on October 10, 2013. "The industry must move beyond current thinking of what an HIE is and what it does as it limits opportunities for value realization," said Moore.

"The future of healthcare demands that the transformational payer-provider relationship leverage a modern communication and coordination solution that will enable all entities to achieve better patient outcomes at lower cost," said Ingari. "To meet those specific needs, I am proud to announce that NaviNet is launching NaviNet Open, a SaaS-based enterprise software product line designed to serve payer customers and provider users. It consists of a series of layers: a network platform, a set of network services, a suite of applications, and a set of tools that customers can use to configure and customize the system."
