SINGAPORE--(Marketwired - Feb 26, 2015) - POCARI SWEAT, one of the leading isotonic beverages in Singapore, announced the grand prize winner of its 'POCARI CROSS RUN' application, after a rigorous round of competition which was held from October to December 2014. The grand prize winner, Mr. Cesco Yeo, a runner from the Elite Level in the application, walked away with a pair of return air tickets and an entry pass to a marathon in Japan. The prize was presented by POCARI SWEAT Ambassador, Mok Ying Ren (SEA Games Gold Medallist), POCARI SWEAT Singapore Country Manager, Ms. Puspita Winawati and 7-Eleven CEO, Mr. David Goh, on February 12, 2015.
Being an active runner who takes part in marathons frequently, Mr. Cesco Yeo was delighted to emerge as the winner. "I discovered the app via Facebook, and found it to be very useful, as it not only incorporated running and hydration, but I also got to enjoy useful tips from Mr. Mok (POCARI SWEAT Ambassador). The app definitely made running more interesting as the rewards encouraged me to run longer distances to achieve the next level in the 'game' through reaching the next hydration point. In fact, I have improved overall as a runner," said Mr. Yeo.
He added, "I have also noticed more 7-Eleven stores around my vicinity, and the app promotes awareness of the importance of hydration during running. I hope that the app will reach more people, and not just active runners, as it encourages people to lead a healthy lifestyle and get rewarded at the same time."
Backed by the latest BEACON1 technology, the 'POCARI CROSS RUN' application employs the short-rage wireless technology, Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) and is the first and largest scale promotional series to utilise this system. The new BEACON technology is set up in 7-Eleven stores island-wide, which takes promotions and campaigns to a whole new level. The BEACON device provides area-specific content customization as well as a variety of interaction responses which is determined by the distance a runner has completed.
It also allows users to achieve their running goals, by making the run more interesting through an app-generated, customized running course. 7-Eleven stores as hydration points are also represented in the app, which allows runners to purchase POCARI SWEAT for hydration, from the nearest 7-Eleven store.
To generate more hype, participation points were awarded via the app, when users passed by a 7-Eleven store during their runs, complete a running course, or made a POCARI SWEAT purchase, by tapping on the BEACON devices available at all 7-Eleven cashier counters. The longer the running distance, the more points a user received. The interactive experience was not just limited to runners. App users could also play games such as Bingo and earn tokens when they passed by 7-Eleven stores as well.
