Dr. Neil Badlani, Nobilis VP of Medical Affairs, Speaks at Prominent Symposium

HOUSTON TX--(Marketwired - Jul 9, 2015) - Dr. Neil Badlani, a prominent Houston-area orthopedic surgeon, recently joined the Nobilis Health Corp. (NYSE MKT: HLTH) (TSX: NHC) as its Vice President of Medical Affairs. In this role, Dr. Badlani will have responsibility over range of matters, from physician and patient outreach to supporting the Company's marketing initiatives, including efforts under the company's North American Spine brand. Badlani, a graduate of both medical school and business school at the University of Pittsburgh, is considered a thought leader in minimally invasive surgical techniques.

"We are thrilled that Dr. Badlani accepted our offer to join the Nobilis team as its VP of Medical Affairs," said Nobilis CEO Chris Lloyd. "More than ever, patients are more informed and have higher expectations regarding the caliber of treating physicians and the quality of care they receive. Dr. Badlani will help us identify effective surgical treatment options for our facilities and for our patients and will help us anticipate the needs of our partner physicians to continue to deliver world class care at our facilities."

Dr. Badlani recently spoke about the economics of outpatient spine surgery at the 12th Annual Symposium of the Spine Technology and Educational Group Organization. The meeting has been hailed as one of the most innovative and relevant educational symposia for spine surgeons and stakeholders in the spine care industry. The goal of the meeting was to help educate surgeons, researchers, and developers about the benefits of ASCs.

"ASCs, like those operated by Nobilis, that attract highly trained and skilled physicians and allow them to continually redesign their care process and be state-of-the-art, will thrive in the coming years by converting costly, low margin hospital care into cost effective but higher margin surgery center care," says Dr. Badlani. "According to the Ambulatory Surgery Center Association, the cost of a surgical procedure in an ASC is 55% of the cost if performed in a hospital," said Dr. Badlani, "so there's good reason to move suitable cases away from hospital settings and into outpatient surgery centers. These centers need to stay on the cutting edge of medicine so that surgery centers can continue to bring down the cost of medicine and improve the quality of care. I'm excited about the opportunity to work with a dynamic company to help shape their path forward."

Dr. Badlani attended George Washington University, graduating Summa Cum Laude in only three years and completed a dual MD/MBA program in just five years at the University of Pittsburgh. His orthopedic surgery training was done at the University of California, San Diego followed by fellowships in both adult and pediatric spine surgery at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago. Dr. Badlani joined North American Spine as a partner physician in 2014.
