DragonWave's Airpair Solution Selected by Prosystel SAS for WiMAX Backhaul in Southwestern France

AirPair provides cost-effective wireless backhaul for new WiMax Network in rural Haute-Garonne

OTTAWA, CANADA--(Marketwire - Sept. 10, 2007) - DragonWave Inc. (TSX:DWI)(AIM:DWI), a leading global supplier of next-generation wireless networks, today announced that Prosystel SAS, a network integrator specializing in the design of access and transport networks for regional operators and local governments, has selected DragonWave's AirPair solution to enable WiMAX-based data and voice services in southwestern France. Prosystel SAS selected the DragonWave solution to provide cost-effective wireless backhaul for new Internet Protocol (IP) services for business and consumer customers in the rural areas of France.

"Only AirPair offers the combination of networking power and resiliency that this project demands," said Franck Le Breton, CEO of Prosystel SAS. "Our job was to build a network that would enable low cost guaranteed, high-bandwidth services in a rural part of the Haute-Garonne department, and DragonWave's native-Ethernet solution cost-effectively provides ultra-low-latency, wireless backhaul for WiMAX access services."

The Haute-Garonne department council sought to avail its rural areas to a higher-speed alternative than the 128 and 512 Kilobit-per-second (Kbps) Internet services available through the local incumbent service provider. The government chose Prosystel SAS and its partner Covage in a Joint Venture between Vinci Networks and Axia to build a WiMax network supporting licensed-frequency, WiMAX-based access services that would deliver guaranteed quality of service (QoS) to end users. The network will be operated as of September 2007 by Altitude Infrastructure, a company of the Altitude group. After a successful trial of the product, Prosystel SAS chose DragonWave's AirPair solution to support wireless backhaul links in a combined, star and daisy-chain network architecture that delivers up to 200 Megabits per second (Mbps) in capacity.

"AirPair is proving its ability to deliver cost-effective, dependable backhaul for WiMAX-based services in more and more markets around the globe, and we are proud that Prosystel SAS has selected our solution for this project," said Alan Solheim, vice president of product management at DragonWave. "Our solution will help Prosystel SAS and the local general council bring high-bandwidth connectivity at reasonable costs for the first time to this rural part of the department."

DragonWave's Horizon Compact and AirPair product operates within both licensed and unlicensed radio frequencies in the 11-to-38-GHz range, ensuring interference-free performance for customers' traffic. The DragonWave solutions provide scalable, ultra-low latency, wire-speed native Ethernet connectivity up to 800 Mbps full duplex and is a highly reliable platform enabling 99.999% service availability. The system is extremely easy to deploy and manage, with a full suite of network management options. AirPair has indoor and outdoor deployment options, while Horizon Compact features a zero-footprint, the radio and modem are integrated into one single compact out-door-unit.
