DRAWING A CROWD FOR TORONTO'S RONALD MCDONALD HOUSE

Celebrated children's author Robert Munsch entertains at 12th Annual Toddle for Tots Attention: Arts/Entertainment Editor, Assignment Editor, Lifestyle Editor, News Editor, Photo Editor TORONTO, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - Sept. 23, 2005) - On September 24th, children and their families participating in the 12th Annual Toddle for Tots, the signature fundraising event for Toronto's Ronald McDonald House, will once again be treated with a performance by children's author and storyteller extraordinaire, Robert Munsch at the Toronto Zoo.

"Toddle for Tots is truly a story of Kids Helping Kids. Funds raised from the event provide support for Toronto's Ronald McDonald House, a "home away from home" for out-of-town families whose children are receiving specialized medical care in Toronto for serious illnesses," said Robert Munsch. "I hope that my participation will help to increase awareness for this important charity and to encourage Torontonians to support Toddle for Tots in whatever way they can."

The event, which is presented by Subaru Canada, Inc., has raised more than $1.4 million for Toronto's Ronald McDonald House since its inception in 1994.

"Since the day we welcomed our first family through the doors, Toronto's Ronald McDonald House has been an independent, non-profit organization and must raise a minimum of $1.5 million per year just to cover operating costs. We are grateful for the community support we have received which allows us to fund the much-needed programs and services to meet the increasing requirements of the families staying with us," said Jane Marco, Executive Director, Toronto's Ronald McDonald House.

Participants will have fun exploring the Zoo with their Safari maps, tracking down animals and playing games. The lions and bears will take a backseat, however, when the entertainment hits the stage. Children of all ages will delight in moving to the jungle beat with Dan the Music Man and being taken away on a storybook adventure courtesy of Munsch.

Children taking part in the Safari are encouraged to raise pledges prior to the event. Those raising $30 receive a Toddle T-shirt, those raising $60 receive a Safari Bucket Hat and Toddle T-Shirt and participants raising $120 or more receive a great Fleece Blanket, Bucket Hat and Toddle T-shirt. Participants who raise in pledges will be entered to win a $500 Scotiabank RESP, a remote control Subaru World Rally car and lots of other cool prizes.

A Martchenko print created specially for Toddle for Tots, featuring many of the Zoo's inhabitants, will be on sale at the event with all proceeds going to The House. Munsch will be signing autographs, so children are encouraged to bring along their favourite of his books.

"Subaru Canada, Inc. is proud to have been part of such a heart-warming and important event for the last 6 years," said Gary Filippini, Vice President Finance and Corporate Planning, Subaru Canada, Inc. "What makes Toddle for Tots so special is that it is an opportunity for families to spend a great day together, while at the same time helping other families in need."
