DreamWorks Animation Drives Innovation With HP Cloud Services

Cloud-Integrated Network-Attached Storage Enabled With Panzura Streamlines Global Collaboration

PALO ALTO, CA--(Marketwire - Aug 9, 2012) - HP (NYSE: HPQ) today announced that DreamWorks Animation SKG (NASDAQ: DWA) is integrating HP Cloud Services with Panzura's Global Cloud Storage System to create a foundation for a global collaboration infrastructure.

HP Cloud Services integrated with the Panzura Global Cloud Storage System offer a robust, globally integrated environment for file sharing and project collaboration, enabling the DreamWorks Animation production teams across three studios with fast and efficient cloud-based data storage, and augmenting DreamWorks' on-premise HP IBRIX Storage deployment.

"HP Cloud Services integrated with the Panzura Global Cloud Storage System will enable DreamWorks to undertake 'follow-the-sun' content production through a robust, global network that ties together our distributed teams," said Derek Chan, head of Technology Global Operations, DreamWorks Animation. "In addition, the massively scalable low-cost tier of storage provides a platform for archiving reusable content in a central repository, while offering inherent data protection that eliminates the need for tape backup and stringent disaster-recovery planning."

HP Cloud Services provides public cloud infrastructure services that enable developers, independent software vendors (ISVs) and enterprises of all sizes to build the next generation of web services. These services are run and operated at scale on a global basis and backed by a broad marketplace of tools and services. HP Cloud Services is a component of HP's broader Converged Cloud approach, which supports customers with a differentiated hybrid delivery model, providing interoperability and portability across public, private and managed clouds.

"The HP Cloud Services platform is strengthened through our robust partner ecosystem," said Zorawar "Biri" Singh, senior vice president and general manager, Cloud Services, HP. "The HP Cloud Services collaboration with Panzura is a reflection of how HP is driving new capabilities at enterprises like DreamWorks Animation."

Panzura's award-winning cloud-integrated Global Cloud Storage System brings local network-attached storage (NAS) capabilities to a distributed network of sites in globally integrated enterprises. When connected to HP Cloud Services, the combined enterprise-class storage system allows low-cost, distributed NAS, active archiving, and robust, tapeless data protection plus disaster recovery. The Panzura Global Cloud Storage System provides the full features, performance and security of local NAS with complete cloud integration.

"Media and entertainment continues to be one of several strong verticals for Panzura," said Randy Chou, chief executive officer, Panzura. "We are excited by DreamWorks' adoption of HP Cloud Services using Panzura's unique NAS system and look forward to enabling DreamWorks to manage its rendering in the HP cloud."

A free webinar featuring DreamWorks, HP and Panzura will be held on Sept. 11, 2012, at 11 a.m. Pacific. The webinar will explore DreamWorks' decision process in evaluating and selecting cloud storage options, describe the real-world deployment of HP Cloud Services with Panzura, and discuss trends in cloud storage.
