Dresner Advisory Services Issues Inaugural Wisdom of Crowds® Small and Mid-Sized Enterprise BI Market Study

New Report Offers Unique Insights on Business Intelligence Trends and Priorities in Small and Mid-Market Organizations; Includes Buyers' Guide to Aid Technology Evaluation

NASHUA, NH--(Marketwired - Nov 6, 2013) - Dresner Advisory Services today released the first edition of its Wisdom of Crowds® Small and Mid-Sized Enterprise Business Intelligence Market Study. The report is based on data collected for the annual Wisdom of Crowds flagship Business Intelligence (BI) study and highlights the specific BI usage patterns within organizations having between 1 and 1,000 employees.

The Wisdom of Crowds Small and Mid-Sized Enterprise BI Market Study focuses on the specific characteristics, drivers, and trends unique to smaller enterprises, and provides an analysis of how these usage trends compare to the large enterprise market.

The inaugural SME BI Report provides a thorough analysis and ranking of 21 leading BI vendors, including individual ratings, to enable organizations to compare and contrast vendor performance using our trademark 33-measure performance model. A 17-page Buyers' Guide is also included to evaluate vendors based on key business intelligence features, across traditional, cloud and mobile platforms, providing a valuable tool for any small or mid-sized organization seeking a BI solution.

"We are very excited to expand our research agenda and deliver this new report examining the unique BI drivers within small and mid-sized enterprises," said Howard Dresner, founder and chief research officer at Dresner Advisory Services. "We've uncovered several interesting deployment preferences and tendencies specific to organizations of this size."

"Small and mid-sized enterprises have a shorter experience with BI than larger organizations, but these initiatives are more likely to be driven from the sales function," continued Mr. Dresner. "In addition, while 'making better decisions' is a universally desired outcome of BI, the SME respondents indicate they hope that their BI deployments will aid revenue growth and foster competitive advantage."

The Wisdom of Crowds Small and Mid-Sized Enterprise Market Study was based on data collected on BI usage and deployment trends, products, and vendors. The 2013 Wisdom of Crowds Business Intelligence Market Study collected more than 1,100 completed surveys. Of that total, 523 surveys were submitted by Small and Mid-Sized (SME) organizations and are the basis for this new market analysis.
