Dresner Advisory Services Publishes 2015 Embedded Business Intelligence Market Study

Embedded Ranks in Top Half of Strategic BI Topics, Above Mobile, Cloud, and Big Data Initiatives

NASHUA, NH--(Marketwired - Oct 29, 2015) - Dresner Advisory Services today released the 3rd Edition of its Embedded Business Intelligence Market Study, part of the Wisdom of Crowds® series of research. The annual report looks at the use and importance of Business Intelligence (BI) features and functions embedded as an inherent part of other applications.

According to this year's study, business services and retail/wholesale industries show the strongest early interest in embedded BI projects. Sales and marketing and R&D report the greatest departmental interest. Importance varies among organization size, with both the small and very large organizations considering embedded BI to be "critical."

"As BI becomes mainstream and organizations seek both to expand their internal BI footprint as well as offer these capabilities to customers and partners, there is a greater interest in including BI functionality as a part of other applications," said Howard Dresner, founder and chief research officer at Dresner Advisory Services. "Looking across our three years of data on user perceptions and intentions around embedding BI functionality, the perceived overall importance has increased, with slightly more people considering embedded BI to be critical."

Users report interest in multiple architectural approaches for deploying embedded BI. Because of the emphasis on ease of use, HTML iframes have become the most popular mechanism, with Web Services, Java, and .NET following closely. Industry support of architectures and features is mostly aligned with user preferences, lagging slightly only in the area of alerting.

Wisdom of Crowds® research is based on data collected on usage and deployment trends, products, and vendors. BI users in all roles and throughout all industries contributed to provide a complete view of realities, plans, and perceptions of the BI market. To purchase a copy of the 2015 Embedded Business Intelligence Market Study, visit embeddedbireport.com.
