Drew Brees and the Super Service Challenge Team Up to Support the 9/11 Day Observance

INDIANAPOLIS, IN--(Marketwired - Sep 9, 2013) - The Brees Dream Foundation today announced that it has joined as a supporter of the 9/11 Day Observance and will be working to inspire Americans everywhere to volunteer this September 11 and support charities of their choice through the $1,000,000 Super Service Challenge. The Super Service Challenge selects unique and special volunteer service projects started by individuals, and awards funding to the nonprofit organizations these individuals select. This year, timed to coincide with the Big Game to be held at MetLife Stadium in the New York City - New Jersey area, The Super Service Challenge will select hundreds of service winners, awarding grants ranging from $100 - $15,000 to their designated charities.

"We are so honored to be part of the 9/11 Day Observance, which has become America's largest annual day of service and remembrance," said Drew Brees, star quarterback of the NFL New Orleans Saints, and founder of the Brees Dream Foundation. "Through the Super Service Challenge, we can help reward and inspire many Americans to get out and volunteer this 9/11, and provide a way for those with special projects to raise money for the charities they care the most about."

The Super Service Challenge, first launched in 2010, is supported by Companies With A Mission, a nonprofit that works together to promote volunteerism. Drew Brees and the Brees Dream Foundation are lead partners in supporting the Super Service Challenge. To sign up to participate in the Super Service Challenge, visit: There is no cost to participate. Individuals simply need to organize volunteer projects, engage their friends to help, and enter their projects for consideration. A panel of judges selects the finalists and winners.

"Drew Brees is not just an MVP in football; he is one in life," said David Paine, president of the 9/11 Day Observance. "Very few individuals have done as much as Drew Brees to promote service and helping others in need. His tireless and selfless work through his Foundation to help bring back the city of New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina is legendary, and we are very honored that he has joined with us in supporting 9/11 as a National Day of Service and Remembrance."

9/11 Day Observance
9/11 Day is the non-profit movement to observe September 11 every year as a day of charitable service and doing good deeds. 9/11 Day was originally created in 2002 by the 9/11 community to provide a positive and permanent way to forever remember and pay tribute to the 9/11 victims, and honor those that rose in service in response to the attacks. In 2009, the U.S. Congress formally designated 9/11 as a National Day of Service and Remembrance under federal law. Today 9/11 Day is the nation's largest annual day of charitable service, with more than 35 million Americans dedicating time to helping others in need.
